Who is Rick's new voice actor Ian Cardoni in Rick and Morty?

THE new voice of Rick Sanchez in animated American sitcom Rick and Morty has been revealed as Ian Cardoni.

The talented actor's name appeared in the credits for the premiere of the show's seventh season.

Who is Rick's voice actor Ian Cardoni?

Cardoni grew up just outside Boston, Massachusetts, and graduated from Emerson College with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2012.

He lives with his wife in Los Angeles and has been described as a history buff, a Sox fan, a foodie, and a lover of fantasy and sci-fi.

The new voice of Rick, a cynical mad scientist, was first heard in the season seven trailer, but Cardoni's identity remained under wraps until the premiere.

The actor made his official debut as the voice of the alcoholic genius on October 15, 2023, instantly catapulting him to stardom.

The star's very first acting role was Bilbo Baggins in a school production of The Hobbit.

He was last seen as a narrator for Wrestlemania 37 and is fresh to the animation scene.

Producer Scott Marder told The Hollywood Reporter he and his co-star Harry Belden, the new voice of Morty, "just brought this show 30 more years".

He said: "We just got these eager, young guys who are so excited to attack every episode."

Cardoni previously starred in short films The Unwanted Gift and Risers.

He also appeared in Larry David’s comedy Clear History and voiced promos for sci-fi drama Resident Alien on Apple TV+.

Who previously played Rick in Rick and Morty?

Rick and Morty's co-creator Justin Roiland voiced the titular characters for all of the show's 61 previous episodes, but was not involved in season seven.

Dan Harmon became the sole showrunner of the series when Roiland was ousted in light of his past domestic violence charges - which Roiland strongly denied.

Adult Swim tweeted in January, 2023: "Adult Swim has ended its association with Justin Roiland. Rick and Morty will continue.

"The talented and dedicated crew are hard at work on Season 7."

The Orange County District Attorney's Office later dismissed all charges against Roiland due to there being "insufficient evidence" to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.

Roiland posted on X, formerly Twitter: "I have always known that these claims were false - and I never had any doubt that this day would come."

He wrote he was thankful the case was dismissed but "deeply shaken by the horrible lies" and disappointed "so many people were so quick to judge without knowing the facts".
