Sam Thompson from I’m A Celebrity may see his “gay fanbase” grow after his bromance with Pete Wicks was aired on the show. He has also openly spoke about being in a straight relationship with his girlfriend, Zara McDermott, who recently appeared on Strictly Come Dancing.

Sam told his I’m A Celebrity campmate Josie Gibson how much he supports his partner: “My girlfriend – and I would never want to take this away from her – is doing so well. I know she doesn’t want to give that up. And she shouldn’t have to.”

“There will come a time where we’ll both be like, ‘Yeah, now’s the time.’ But I just don’t think it’s now,” he added.

But Sam is only facing gay rumors now because of his adorable bromance with Pete Wicks, who he calls his ‘brother’.

Although Sam Thompson has admitted he has some form of a gay fan base in the past.

When he and best pal Pete were discussing their audience on social media, Pete admitted he doesn’t get a lot of attention from men. But Sam often receives male nudity pics or photos from “mums”

“I don’t really have a gay fan base. I get the older generation,” Pete explained during an OK interview, before Sam chimed in: “I get mums as well, to be fair. I get mums and d**ks.”

Pete Wicks, Sam’s podcast co-host for Staying Relevant and best friend, met him in the jungle. They’ve always had a hilarious friendship after they both appeared on Celebs Go Dating and formed a close bond. The duo formed a real friendship when they went on the dating show in a bid to find love. They even went on double dates, but didn’t leave with a long-term significant other.

However, it turned out to be in Sam’s favor, as he then met his partner Zara.

When Pete entered the jungle, he told Sam that Zara is “gutted she can’t come”. Initially, Sam thought she’d still be competing in Strictly Come Dancing. But she was eliminated from the BBC competition in week one, and Pete gave Sam a nose bop from her.

Zara took to Instagram to reveal the reason she didn’t see Sam Down Under. One fan asked: “How come you’re not heading into the jungle to greet Sam?” She responded: “Pete is going. We’ve had a few laughs and jokes about this.”

During a hilarious naked photoshoot between Sam and Pete, he previously told OK!: “I’ve seen [Pete] pretty naked, but I haven’t seen his k**b.

“There’s a best friend line and that’s crossing it, I do not want to see his k**b.”

The two also confirmed they showered together but Pete said it “won’t be a regular thing”.

Pete and Sam are just the best of friends – and Wicks said he “hasn’t felt prouder” than anyone in his life.
