Benjamin David Gillies is an Australian musician, best known as the drummer for Australian rock band Silverchair from 1992 until the band's suspension in 2011. In 2003, Gillies founded Tambalane with Wes Carr, originally a project of writing songs, they released an album of the same name in 2005 and toured Australia but later rearranged. In June 2011, after Silverchair disbanded, Gillies was in the final stages of about 12 months of work on his solo album and he said it was not a continuation of his previous work with Tambalane. In 2012, he formed Bento, in which he took the lead vocals, and released the group's debut album Diamond Days.
